Before I dig in to my collection of favorite quotes from some of my books, I wanted to announce that my epic fantasy project The Curse of Broken Shadows is now live on Kindle Vella! New episodes are released every Friday, and you can join the conversation over on Discord. There’s also a Shadows Series page here on my website that will be updated with more information as I write it!
Now, on to the good stuff. Here’s a collection of some of my favorite quotes from my books! You can read them all on Amazon and learn more here on my website.
Star Collapsed, Blue Star Series
“Who’s the leather jacket?” I asked Josh.
“Out of your league,” he laughed. He glanced at me, realizing I wasn’t breaking eye contact with her. “Wait, you’re serious?”
“Yeah, what’s she doing in the middle of that group?”
He shook his head. “Okay, clearly you weren’t listening. That group makes no sense whatsoever, but her even less. Kiya Beckett. Nineteen. I’m pretty sure she’s killed a man with her bare hands.”
“I’m trying to see if I can help Ryder understand his powers without getting him involved with Peritia.”
“That’s… uncharacteristic of you,” Mom said, raising her eyebrow. “Two days ago you wanted to punch his face in.”
I smiled. “Like you didn’t have the same thought when you first met him.”
She grinned back. “Maybe.
“Do you know any of the constellations?” she asked, staring up at the sky.
“I could probably find the Big Dipper eventually,” I replied.
Kiya grunted, pointing in the opposite direction of where I had started to look. “You can control the night sky and you don’t know what you’re working with? No wonder you can’t control your powers.”
“Uh, can I have that theory in English, please? It seems like everyone here is an astrophysicist except me,” I butted in, breaking the silence.
The Curse of Broken Shadows
Brela cursed for the fourth time. She only knew because Elias was counting.
And the only way she’d part with something so sacred would be with her death, so she did the dumbest thing she’d ever done in her life.
Brela growled back.
“When you glare like you’re going to burn down their forest, they’re going to think you want to burn down their forest.”
Brela stuck her tongue out at his reflection in the mirror. “I’ll try to control my blood splatter the next time I fight a shadow wolf.”
“Blood is usually supposed to stay inside your body,” Elias replied, flicking her nose before she had a chance to bite his finger.
Brela cursed her traitorous eyes that had first scanned his visible, well-defined muscles, then cursed her lungs for releasing an uncharacteristic sigh when she realized he wasn’t hurt.
She bit her tongue before it betrayed her too.
“Prince Serill of Severina,” Brela said, bowing dramatically with her arms wide. No, that wasn’t for show. Her hand slid behind Farrah’s back, to the blowgun and finola she had tucked away. “It’s been a pleasure antagonizing your men. Tell the fire-breather I’ll be back to collect my knife.”
The Prince only chuckled. “I’m not sure he’s willing to part with it. I think he’s grown quite fond of…” He looked Brela up and down for a breath before emphasizing, “the knife.”
Remy rolled her eyes. “Why does everyone assume all we do around here is go to church and run around corn mazes? Next you’re going to tell me you thought we drove to school on our tractors.”
“Don’t you, though?”
“No, of course not. Do you realize how impractical that is?”
Kahyr pulled the cloak tighter around her shoulders, studying each of them. “You are all so…”
“Handsome?” Nura shouted from the back.
“Vain?” Tanre joked, looking over his shoulder as Cedovede laughed.
Kahyr shrugged. “Peculiar.”
“Rhish!” Khepri cheered, pulling him away from a conversation with Egan. “Tell us story of scar you are embarrassed about.”
He didn’t hesitate. “Kahyr shot me in shoulder.”
Everyone’s jaws dropped as Kahyr threw her hand over her mouth.
Tanre looked at her, eyes wide. “You shot Rhish?”
“I did not know him!” she gasped, grimacing as a few of them playfully hit her. She shrugged. “Also I missed. I was aiming for heart.”
