Warrior Series Synopsis:
A life in the balance, a great city on the brink of collapse, and a magic that could restore peace to their world… if it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
Baeddan is focused on ascending the throne and Rhish is ready for the chance to meet the peaceful Kallie, but when they encounter Kahyr, the guardian of the forest who will protect her people at all costs, their diplomatic mission turns into a rescue. These three narratives intertwine across ten episodes and reveal the mysteries and magic of the Kallie forest, setting the stage for an epic, action-packed adventure throughout a new world.
In Detail - The Stolen Lives:
The forest was supposed to be peaceful.
It has been generations since the gods banished their people for violence. While the peaceful Kallie live in the forest under the protection of the gods, the kingdoms of Ciro and Donoma have grown on their own, without that magic.
Years after a failed attempt to repair the relationship with the gods in Kallie, Ciro is now in desperate need of that magic to save their kingdom.
When the Queen mysteriously falls ill, King Eudav sends his son, Prince Baeddan, to Kallie in search of a magic white flower that could save her life.
But the secrecy surrounding the previous trip to the peaceful forest has Baeddan questioning the true motive of his mission. He enlists the help of translator Prince Rhish of Donoma in the hopes of uncovering the secrets that might hide in the Kallie forest.
What they find in the forest is anything but peaceful, and the secrets uncovered only get worse. Revealing the truth might cost Baeddan the throne... and his life.
Glossary & More:
Characters:
Prince Baeddan (books 1, 4, 7): Baeddan dreams of the day he'll sit on the throne of Ciro. His father's illness has miraculously been cured, leaving Baeddan waiting for a crown that might never be his. But when his mother falls ill, he's asked to return to Kallie and ask for a magic healing flower that could save her life. Instead, he discovers a horrible truth that forces him to pick sides. One could cost him the throne, the other could cost him his life.
As the curse on his kingdom worsens and his people rise against him, Baeddan sets his sights on an answer... Kallie magic. He is determined to save his city, and he will do anything to secure his place on the throne, but the curse of the sun god Asalie has infected more than the kingdom he rules.
Kahyr (books 2, 6, 8, 10): After the brutal murder of her siblings during the night of her naming ceremony, the gods save Kahyr by giving her a name and a duty - warrior, guardian of the forest. The warrior becomes an outcast, shamed for surviving when her siblings bled out around her. She swears to the gods that she will fulfill her duty no matter what, protecting the innocent Kallie from those strange men who came from the water.
When those men return, she never expected to meet someone who knew her language. With no other options, Kahyr puts her trust in the translator who she shot, saving her people from another brutal slaughter.
But there are always consequences. There's a dark secret to the magic she possesses, something given to her by the gods after her naming ceremony, and if the truth gets out, her life is in danger. The Coilleach must now find a way to protect her people and herself from the man obsessed with power, and she might have to do it alone.
Prince Rhish (books 3, 5, 9): Rhish has always been enamored by the peaceful Kallie forest, but his people of Donoma have been banished. He jumps at the opportunity to translate for Baeddan, hoping he can learn more about the forest he has only dreamed of. He just never thought he'd be stranded with an injury from their fiercest warrior. Separated from his family and his home with no way to return, the troubled stranger looks for peace in the one person he should be cautious of - Kahyr, the warrior who shot him.
Being stranded in Kallie isn't the worst thing that could happen. He gets to explore the forest and grow closer to Kahyr. But when Baeddan returns with a proposal that he never thought possible, Rhish is forced to distance himself from the Kallie warrior. With a spy still in their ranks, could Baeddan have learned the secret to Kahyr's life? Or worse, does he know what magic she's capable of?
She's the warrior his world needs. She is the Coilleach. She is peace.
And he is in love with her.
Reviews:
“Winter's warrior series is a fast paced adventure that throws you deep into a meticulously crafted fantasy world. The characters are complex and relatable. The cultures and fantastical elements of the world are original and thought provoking. You'll find yourself wanting more very quickly.”
“Oh my...I was hooked from the get go. I love the world it's in and the people too. I'm going to stick with this series until I finish it. Then I'm going to reread it over and over. I love being drawn into this book and becoming part of its fabric.” - Amazon
“I absolutely plan to stick with this new fantasy series since I love how the world building is carefully woven with the plot. “The Stolen Lives” starts out strange just gets stranger. I just hate it when a book put you on the edge of your seat, where each subsequent nail-biting moment of it keeps you up after your bedtime. For me, this occurred on page 27 when I read the sentence, "Two of the men were struck with something moving at high speed, sending them falling back as the others looked around in fear." That's when the plot gets really hot, where seamlessly, the author combines believability with fantasy. It blurs the edges in a way that highlight a place in “Kallie” where fantasy stories and real life convene. This book has enough action to satisfy me, and I know 100%, it’s a new series to immerse yourself in from a new indie author with unique storytelling ability. This series will be one of my best reads of 2021.” - Amazon
“A short story, well, written with good characters. Baeddan embarks on a mission for his father, King Eudav, a repeat of one his father did 15 years earlier, but all is not what it seems. Baeddan discovers what really happened and although lives are lost, he saves many and is eager to return to his home lands and bring his father to justice. A good introduction to a series with promise.” - Amazon
“A well written, entertaining short story, with excellent character s and a good plot. The Author has created an interesting world. This story is part of a series so has an ending but not a conclusion, there is plenty more to come, and I look forward to reading it.” - Amazon
“A short story, well written and runs alongside The Stolen lives, seen through the eyes of Kahyr, the only one to survive the slaughter of the children, 15 years before. Kahyr blames herself although she was a child at the time and feels unworthy of the task and name she has been given. A heartfelt tale which brings a whole different outlook to the story. Contains friendship, action, pain and heartbreak.” - Amazon
