In Detail - Soul Forgotten:

My name is Clara Rivers, or at least that's what I'm telling people.

I come from a community called The Complex that regulates who gets superpowers. When you turn eighteen, you go through Trials to get your abilities from power sources.

Except I was born with mine, and that's never happened before.

Think hiding telepathic and telekinetic powers is scary? Try hiding the fact that an evil power source called the Blue Star has been showing me visions of my death if I don't use its power. And I was dumb enough to listen.

Now I can't remember who I am, and I'm desperate to find answers as the Blue Star continues to show me my death. Someone is coming after me and I need to hide, but blending in while losing control of explosive powers isn't easy.

And that's an even bigger challenge when I run into Nate and Glitch, who are hiding their own abilities. I'm immediately drawn to Nate's shadow powers, and the Blue Star sees it too. There's something growing between us, and I'm not so sure it's evil.

The more we uncover about my past and the Blue Star, the less certain I am about what we thought we knew. I need to figure out who I was before I lost my memories because the headaches are getting worse, I'm losing control of my powers, and I desperately want to give in to the evil power source.

Character Superpowers:

Clara: Telekinesis / Telepathy - Based loosely off Scarlet Witch, C’s powers are very much volatile. Known as the ‘Supernova’, she prefers the explosive nature of her abilities. Her confidence is a huge piece of her power as well, and as her story continues, that becomes more apparent in the things she can do.

Nate: Umbrakinesis (shadow manipulation) - essentially, Nate can not only become a shadow, he can create and control them. It’s incredibly useful, and as the books continue, his skills grow. I won’t spoil anything about his ability, but I’ll tease this… Nate’s a very pure character, but shadows aren’t always associated with that pure nature…

Glitch: Teleportation - Glitch got his name because his power essentially looks like a video game glitch to anyone observing. That was an absolute blast to create, especially when he doesn’t have control of his power (Nate described it as having his insides twisted). As he learns his power, his strength grows to the point he can even make teleportation clones.

Reviews:

YA romance, sci-fi, and suspense... Forgotten memories, magical powers, secret societies, and, of course, evil. This aspect of the book was something I hadn't read before which is what makes it fun. An author with a new story to tell is always worth keeping an eye on. - Goodreads Review

I really enjoyed this story! I love anything with magic and unique circumstances which this author provided. She did an amazing job telling the story and keeping me engaged. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! - Goodreads Review

Captivating from start to finish! You’ll fall in love with the characters immediately!

Soul Forgotten (Blue Star Series Book 1) by Laura Winter is an awesome story that I have had the privilege to read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series written by a brand new author for me to read. I am so hooked on this series so bad that I can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this story to everyone.

I really enjoyed this book. It was unique in every way! It had me fighting sleep and reading that one more chapter over and over before putting it down for the night. The characters were awesome… This book was full of action and amazing from he first character where a girl wakes up in the forest with a dead man and no clue where she is or who. Completely recommend.

This book was awesome. I read a lot so I always gauge a book by how much it holds my interest. I found that I couldn’t wait to start reading again and wished I could sit and finish the book in one sitting. This book has it all - it’s funny, it’s sad, it’s romantic and it holds your attention! It has enough sci fi but it’s not “way far out there”. I loved it and can’t wait for book 2!!

OMG!!! YES!!! I started this book last night. Clara, Nate and Glitch were awesome. I was hooked on every word from the beginning to the end. The twists and turns in this book were extremely satisfying and I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE!!! I'm so glad I managed to get a review copy. Now I'm truly looking forward to the next book in this series. It is seriously a great read.
