Happy birthday Clara/Finnley!

I’m celebrating Finnley’s birthday this week with music and great deals for you.

To celebrate her birthday, THE ENTIRE SOUL TRILOGY is available for $0.99 each! August 20-27, grab Soul Forgotten, Soul Remembered, and Soul Obscured at a HUGE discount. As always, reviews are greatly appreciated and help me out a TON.

Now, let’s check out the playlist for the final book in the Soul Trilogy! I’m giving you an inside look at some of my favorite songs and how they set the tone for the book (plus wrapped up the series).

Soul Obscured playlist

Enemies - Shinedown

Okay, we start off this book with a BANG. I have had readers email me saying how shocking this first chapter was. I think this song perfectly sets the theme for the entire book, just like this review says:

Go to Bed Angry - Set It Off, KC

I can count on one hand the amount of times Finnley and Nate have fought throughout this series. Like, they are so perfect (and I love writing healthy relationships), so writing their first big fight since the first book was such a good challenge. I think I gave several people heart attacks with this one, especially when they both started losing control of their powers (plus, Nate showing off a new superpower?? OMG).

Lost Without You (Freya Ridings), Human (Kyd the Band), Dynasty (MIIA), Please (Noah Kahan), Turn the Music Up (NF), I Can’t Dance (Mating Ritual)

This was one of my favorite creations in the entire series. Using songs to break apart the passing of time and Finnley going through all the stages of grief was incredible. Each little snippet scene told from Glitch’s perspective was really fun. Well, fun for me, maybe not for my characters. I think this was one of the most emotional chapters I’ve written, and getting to tell it from a perspective outside of Finnley and Nate was something special.

Sing To Me - MISSIO

How about this shocker? Finnley has always been a bit strange, but to realize that something more is happening in her head? This haunting melody was the perfect song to capture not only her descent into madness, but the very bad things that might happen should she and Nate remain separated.

No One Knows Us - BANNERS

Oh, how heartbreaking! All of my dramatic, heartfelt songs made it into this playlist. BANNERS really fit the mold for this scene. We get to see Finnley’s longing for something more, missing Nate, and being torn about having to stay separated. It’s her ache for missing Nate and wanting to just throw everything out the window to be together again.

DON’T BRING THAT TROUBLE - NEEDTOBREATHE

I mean, what’s an epic fight scene without some jams? I totally picture this song in the movie soundtrack for this book. It’s perfect for Finnley just tearing around and beating the crap out of a bunch of dudes. Even Glitch gets to join in on the fun!!

Dreaming - Smallpools

Who remembers from Soul Forgotten that Smallpools is Nate’s favorite band? I have been waiting so long to share this song in my Soul books, and this scene was one of the first scenes I had mapped out when I started plotting this book.

Also, THERE ARE THREE OF THEM. If you’ve read the book, you know what I mean. Seriously, this scene was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS to write, even if it’s super dramatic.

I Believe - Basic Vacation

So, the song isn’t available on Spotify, but this is the MOST PIVOTAL SONG IN THE ENTIRE BOOK. This is what brings our sweet Nate and explosive Finnley back together again. This chapter was an absolute back and forth of hilarious banter, sweet moments, and some absolutely heartbreaking emotional realizations.

Light Up - BANNERS

If you noticed, this book has a lot of BANNERS because this album was entirely too perfect to not only wrap up this book, but the entire series.

Light Up not only gives us a wrap on the events of the book but it really sets the tone for the entire series. It’s upbeat and powerful - a testament to the love that Finnley and Nate share, their struggles and abilities to overcome the shit they’ve dealt with, and a forward looking beat to show that things might not be over with just yet.
