Writing Tools: Planner
I’m an obsessive planner. I love calendars and lists and all sorts of shiny notebooks. I time block and fill my day with productivity… or at least the illusion of it (lol).
As a writer, I like to see where I’m spending my time. I have a lot of tasks that go into the process, not just writing, so it’s useful to see where I’m wasting time, working productively, and making progress toward my goals. That’s why I use a lot of time blocking techniques. It helps me lay out my day and make sure I’m focused during the times I’m supposed to be writing and relaxing or creating in others.
It’s no secret that I have fallen in love with the Passion Planner. It’s the first planner I’ve ever been able to use and not given up on. I keep track of writing word counts, projects from all over, and keep on schedule for my personal life as well. It’s incredible.
To give you an idea of how I use my planner and tie in my own creative ideas, I wanted to share some examples of my planner spreads. I’m a very amateur watercolor painter but I do enjoy the creative outlet. I’ll usually paste my favorite ones in the themes!
PS. If you can’t afford a planner, Passion Planner also offers free downloads that are incredibly useful and have the same exact layout as their bound planners. Stick them in your own cheap notebooks or bind them yourself.
